The workshop seminar “Tools for Democracy” took place on the 15th of January at the University of Piraeus. The event was organized by the Laboratory of Education Policy, Research, Development and Interuniversity Cooperation, the digital platform Vouliwatch and the EduTV department of the Greek Ministry of Education, Research and Religious Affairs.

The event attended the students of the Master program International and European Policies on Education, Training and Research and teachers of the program “Teachers4Europe”.

The first presentation “Active Citizenship, a European priority” was made by dr. Foteini Asderaki, Assistant Professor at the Department of International and European Studies, University of Piraeus and Director of ERDIC, followed by dr. Sophia Papadimitriou with her presentation on “Democracy and Education: The role of media”. The third presentation of the seminar was conducted by the Vouliwatch team, Stephanos Loukopoulos and Maria Nathanail on the capabilities, uses and agenda of their platform towards a more democratic participation of citizens in decision making process. After the presentation an open discussion was created about the possibility of using Vouliwatch platform as a learning material in the classroom.
