The opening ceremony of the MSC "International and European Policies on Education, Training and Research" of the Department International and European Studies took place last Friday, 16th of October, at the University of Piraeus. Students and Professors of the master, representatives of the University and the City Council of Piraeus honored the ceremony with their presence.
During the opening ceremony greeting were addressed by the Professor Nicolaos Georgopoulos, Rector of the University of Piraeus, Petros Kokalis, Member of the city council of Piraeus, Christina Karatidi on behalf of the European Commission representation office in Greece, the Professor Angelos Kotios, Dean of the School of Economy, Entrepreneurship and International Studies, the Professor Panayiotis Ifestos, President of the Department International and European Studies.
Guest speaker of the ceremony was the president of the State Scholarships Foundation, Associate Professor Efi Basdra and her speech topic was “ The contribution to the internationalization of the higher education, its association with employability of young people: The case study of the State Scholarships Foundation”.
“We are confident that the Master Program «International and European Policies on Education, Training and Research» of the Department of International and European Studies will contribute to the professional specialization of our human resources. Those people, by using knowledge and skills gained from the MSC, will contribute creatively to the promotion of new proposals, plans and practices for a more effective contribution of education, training and research towards the development, the progress and the common perspective of the people of Europe. The quality of the Master Program, of the Professors and of the University of Piraeus will guarantee the success of this effort.”

The opening ceremony finished with the Master’s presentation from the President of the MSC, Associate Professor Charalampos Goussios and the presentation of the Laboratory of Education Policy, Research, Development and Interuniversity Cooperation (ERDIC) from the Director and Assistant Professor Foteini Asderaki.
After the ceremony the professors and the students of the master attended the social networking dinner at the Sailing Club of Piraeus.
