YouthActiv<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n Action under the Jean Monnet, Information and Research Activities carried out by the University of Piraeus, <\/span><\/span>School<\/span><\/span> of Economics<\/span><\/span>, Business and International Studies, Department of International and European Studies, with Scientific Responsible Lecturer F. Asderaki.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n The program YouthActiv regards young people aged 16-18 years, high school students, some of whom will be next voters in the elections in 2014. Stressing the importance of the EU to young people designing educational activities will operate as an integrated experience, the program develops innovative models of diffusion of information about the EU, so that students realise the way it works and understand the role and effects to life of citizens.<\/span><\/p>\n The<\/span><\/span>Youth Activ <\/span><\/span>will inform <\/span><\/span>teachers <\/span><\/span>and <\/span><\/span>students about <\/span><\/span>EU issues <\/span><\/span>and <\/span><\/span>motivate <\/span><\/span>young people to <\/span><\/span>acquire the <\/span><\/span>skills and <\/span><\/span>knowledge <\/span><\/span>to live in <\/span><\/span>a<\/span><\/span> European environment that <\/span><\/span>understanding <\/span><\/span>to become <\/span><\/span>active European <\/span><\/span>citizens<\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n The main <\/span><\/span>objectives of the program are<\/span>:<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n A) inform the society focusing on young people and to sensitize them on issues of European integration <\/a>More details:<\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n Create <\/span><\/span>a <\/span><\/span>mini<\/span>-portal <\/span>for<\/span><\/span>teenagers<\/span><\/span>16 to 18<\/span><\/span>years<\/span><\/span>(YouthActiv)<\/span><\/span>in cooperation <\/span><\/span>with <\/span><\/span>a <\/span><\/span>specialist <\/span><\/span>website <\/span><\/span>to European <\/span><\/span>information<\/span>, EurActiv.gr <\/span>which <\/span><\/span>will contain<\/span>:<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n 1. Adjusted texts about the history and structural reforms of the EU, which will be presented in an interactive way , using various tools such as schedules, presentations, flash animation etc. Implementation <\/span><\/span>of <\/span><\/span>seminars<\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n Seminars <\/span><\/span>for <\/span><\/span>teachers <\/span><\/span>and <\/span><\/span>secondary school students <\/span><\/span>in <\/span><\/span>EU matters <\/span><\/span>which <\/span><\/span>will <\/span><\/span>include<\/span>:<\/span><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n 1. History of the EU – the EU as a stabilizer of the European continent<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n 2. EU governance<\/p>\n 3. European citizenship<\/p>\n 4. European educational programs and initiatives for young people (Erasmus +, Youth on the Move)<\/p>\n 5. Volunteering (<\/span>Youth<\/span>in<\/span>Action<\/span>)<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n 6. Youth Entrepreneurship<\/span><\/p>\n After each seminar will be followed by a discussion, an “EU dialogue” with the active participation of teachers, students, academic coordinator and the scientific program committee and various youth organizations and other invited visitors (journalists, representatives of the European Parliament etc.).<\/span><\/p>\n There will be <\/span><\/span>5 <\/span><\/span>seminars<\/span><\/span> in 5 <\/span><\/span>different <\/span><\/span>cities <\/span><\/span>of Greece <\/span><\/span>in order to cover <\/span><\/span>the <\/span><\/span>geographical <\/span><\/span>dissimilarity <\/span><\/span>in <\/span><\/span>Greece<\/span><\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n The full<\/span><\/span> program <\/span><\/span>will be posted <\/span><\/span>after the selection of <\/span><\/span>participants.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n From theory to <\/span><\/span>practice:<\/span><\/span>Students<\/span> become “journalists of the <\/span>EU<\/span> “<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n The most interactive part of the program will be the active participation of students and their transform into “journalists of the EU”<\/strong>. Students , being informed on EU affairs during the seminars, will take to create a short story (or video or article or a combination of them) about how they see the development of the EU from their own view, with the guidance of Balkan Beyond Borders (BBB). H BBB is an NGO that uses art and new media seeking to promote youth movement and youth cooperation in the Balkans through ‘ dialogue’ , the ‘interaction’ and ‘ innovative learning ‘. The stories of the students will be posted on the mini portal and other social media (youtube, facebook, Vimeo) for further spread of the project results. The best journalists of the EU will win a prize. \n4. Interactive games of knowledge ( quizzes , puzzles , etc. )
\n5. Supporting material for parents \/ teachers (ppts, brochures of the European Commission and the European Parliament , links with European Unions and institutions , questions and answers for Europe )
