Project Description EuropeStARTS

The Department of International and European Studies of the University of Piraeus invites teachers of primary education and post-graduate students of the Departments of Primary Educatio n or International and European Studies and PhD candidates on the subject of Education or European Integration and implementation of ICT in education to participate in the “Europe at Schools through Art and Simulation” (EuropeStARTS) programme with Scientific Coordinator the Lecturer Foteini Asderaki. The aims of the EuropeStARTS project is to:

  • educate teachers on the issues of European integration
  •  make the teachers familiar with tutorial techniques and new technologies in order to be able to provide knowledge on currents issues of European integration
  • promote pupils’ creativity and organization of activities related to the EU
  • create new teaching and educational material and tools for pupils to use, such as simulation exercises and digital educational comics
  • give the opportunity to teachers to participate in an active network in order to exchange views and best practices in education within the EU

Participation in EuropeStARTS will be free while the participants will cover any costs of travel and accommodation. A certificate of participation of the Project will be given to the participants.

Date of Program:

The training sessions will took place at the University of Piraeus, Karaoli and Dimitriou 80, 185 34 Piraeus on the following dates: January 18-19, 2014 and May 10-11, 2014. Full attendance of the training sessions is required.

How to apply:

Applicants should submit electronically to europestarts@gmail.com <europestarts@gmail.com> the documents required to participate in the EuropeStARTS Project from Wednesday, November 6, 2013 to Friday, December 6, 2013 . The results will be announced on Friday, December 20, 2013 and an acceptance form will be sent to the selected candidates.

The application should include :

a) a motivation letter (no more than one page)
b ) a brief curriculum vitae, indicating foreign language knowledge and skills in ICT
c ) a declaration of Law 1599/86
