Who we are

7a6409a35f8223f856dc99651cb33cb1_XLDr. Foteini Asderaki, the academic coordinator of YouthActiv, is an Associate Professor at the Department of International and European Studies of the University of Piraeus. Her fields of specialization concern European integration and European Educational Policy. She holds a BA, a MA in International and European Studies and a PhD with distinction in Political Sciences issued by the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. She also holds two diplomas on pedagogical sciences (4years). She has been teaching at the undergraduate as well as at the postgraduate level at DIES. Furthermore, she teaches at the postgraduate program of the Pedagogical Department of Primary Education, the postgraduate program of the Department of Communication and Mass Media, University of Athens, the educational programme “Teachers4Europe” for 2011/12 and 2012/13 and “T4E Ambassadors” for 2013/14 run by the European Commission’s Representation in Greece. She has published books and articles on European integration issues and in particular on European Educational Policy. She has also worked at the Ministry of Education (2002-09) and she was a member of several European and intergovernmental committees. She is the academic coordinator of the Jean Monnet programmes EuropeStARTS and YouthActiv and she has been the Academic coordinator of B.E.S.T. (Jean Monnet, Learning EU at Schools)

1472940_10152176369358367_1030178919706192421_n  Dimitris Maragos, YouthActiv Project Manager, holds a BA in Communication, Media and Culture from Panteion University of Athens and a Msc in International and European Studies from the University of Piraeus. His research is mainly focused on EU and European funded Educational Programmes. His current position as Communication Officer for the European Erasmus+ Programme at the State Scholarships Foundation gives him the opportunity to have an inside opinion of the European Integration which is still in process, and which is being enhanced and enforced with educational programmes. Furthermore, since 2012 he has been Project Manager at the University of Piraeus regarding European Funded Programs in cooperation with the Department of International and European Studies. Additionally he is one of the Founding Members of the NGO “Center for Promotion of Young Entrepreneurship and Technology- CEPYET “ and he is member of the Board of the NGO Balkans Beyond Borders.
