Professor Pero Lucin is the Rector of the University of Rijeka and in the past he served in the position of the President of the Board of the National Foundation for Science, Higher Education and Technological Development of the Republic of Croatia (2003-2010). He was also a Member of the Steering Committee for Higher Education and Research (CD-ESR) of the Council of Europe (2002-2004) and a BFUG member (2002-2004).
